Six Workplace Engagement and Happiness Questions to Ponder

I love these workplace engagement questions recommended by author Daniel Pink. Now, whenever I suggest questions (and I have a lot of fabulous engagement questions in my book, "Small Moments, Big Outcomes") I don't suggest them just as questions that leaders ask their employees. These are great questions for everyone to ponder, and they can serve as important conversation starters with your boss.

How would you like to grow within this organization?
Do you feel a sense of purpose in your work?
What do you need from me to do your best work?
What are we currently not doing as a company/organization that you feel we should be doing?
Do you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day?
Does your workplace offer free chocolate and a puppy petting playground?

Okay, that last question may have been one I slipped in, but I think it definitely belongs on the list.

And question #5, according to research, is one of the most important questions to ponder when it comes to workplace happiness, so be sure to ponder...preferably over chocolate and puppies.

Mike's Fun at Work Tip

UPS has dedicated social media pages where UPS drivers can post photos of all the dogs they encounter on their rounds. Millions of people have visited the heartwarming pages. It's fun for the drivers, the dog owners, and, heck, probably the dogs! Plus it has earned them a whack of free, positive (pawsitive?) publicity!

So why not adopt this idea for your workplace? Even if you only encounter a dog a week at work it's a really fun way to engage with your customers.
